Although there is little information about his early years, Burzis was born in the USA and therefore holds an American nationality, while he is probably of Egyptian by ancestry. From an early age, Kanga was interested in tennis, and as he got older his interest only increased. After finishing high school, Burzis continued his education, however, there is no information in regards to which faculty he attended, but it is known that he obtained Bachelor of Science degree in 1984. Meantime, from 1980 to 1983, Kanga was an avid tennis player, winning over 50 matches for a private tennis team.

Career Beginnings

Two years after finishing his education, Burzis returned to University, this time as a coach at the University of New Orleans. He served there for the next three years, before venturing on to become a Sports Commissioner for the 1996 AAU Junior Olympics games. He has also served as board member of Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation.

Rise to Prominence

He returned to coach in 2003 after being hired by the University of New Orleans Lakefront, and in his debut season had an 81-9 record. Most recently, he became a part of the New Orleans Privateers, with whom he has continued quite successfully, winning a number of prestigious awards.

Popularity through Marriage and Divorce

Burzis and Hoda met on a Valentine’s Day in 2004, while both were guests at the American Heart Association event. The two hit it off immediately, and after a year of a romantic relationship, Kanga proposed Hoda in May 2005; the wedding ceremony was held in December 2005 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. However, their marriage didn’t last long, as Hoda filed for divorce in February 2007 and the process was finalized the following year. They didn’t have children together. Burzis has blamed Hoda for their divorce, particularly her problems with fertility and also constant travels from New Orleans to New York. All that had put a strain on their romance and the final result was their split. Since the divorce, Kanga has remained single and focused on his career as a tennis coach. He has also withdrawn from the public eye, and isn’t active on any social media network. Nevertheless, he remains quite a popular figure in the entertainment world, because of his accomplishments as a tennis coach, but also as the ex-husband of one of the most prominent journalists of the present day.

The daughter of Abdel Kader Kotb and Sameha, she is of Egyptian ancestry, and has a sister Hala and brother Adel. She moved a lot through her childhood, firstly living in Morgantown, West Virginia, but then spent a year in Egypt and later Nigeria. She went to Fort Hunt High School, from which she matriculated in 1982, upon which she enrolled at Virginia Tech, from where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism four years later. She started her career at WXVT headquartered in Greenville, Mississippi, and then from 1992 to 1998 served as anchor and reporter for WWL-TV in New Orleans. It was in 1998 that she joined NBC News, and since then has held a number of important positions at the station, including being the national correspondent. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, but after a successful mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, Hoda was cancer-free.
